The Road to Giam
Nestled among the abundant green foliage and rushing streams and rivers, just about an hour drive away from Kuching is the delightful Bidayuh village of Kpg Giam. Though it may not possess world class picturesque settings, this is as original a Borneo rural set up as you can get!

No snowcapped mountains or deep blue sky, no swiss alpine cottage with smoke from chimney and cows grazing in lush meadow, but a road that leads you seemingly into the unknown jungle is just as captivating!

Tropical downpour in the afternoon is common in Borneo. The abundant rain water feeds the myriad streams and rivers that snake through the jungle creating a complimenting eco-system among them. The above photos shows the landing point for longboats and is only a short distance away from a school.

- Jungle water taxis?
This is another landing point for longboats and is just near the village of Kpg Giam. The river is Sarawak Kiri which ultimate flows pass the Main Bazaar of Kuching city.

Laundry day for the villagers. Sights like the above are common in rural Borneo where villagers congregate daily to do laundry and bathe, but may soon be gone with modern progress (piped water). Most houses keep large containers to collect rain waters for household use.

It’s my village…such a great view and it’s so cold especially during raining season and early morning. Feel free to explore more and do contact me to find out more. A lots can be explored; just like a lost world even it’s just 35KM from city centre.
Dear Jack,
I would like to take pictures around your kampung. Please let me know how to contact you. TQ.
